On the Mayan Easter tour you will experience the amazing festivals of Holy Week in which Mayan Cuture and Catholic culture meet as well as taking in remnants of ancient civilisations, volcanic treks and visiting some of Quatemala’s pristine national Parks.
On this tour we will take you on a journey starting from the Pacific Coast visiting mangrove-dense National Parks before climbing up to the Highlands and visiting Lake Aticlan with its amazing Mayan culture. We will continue the journey into the highest mountains in Guatemala, 11,500 feet above sea level into Los Cuchumatanes where we will meet the local people living in this extreme environment.
On this tour you will have the opportunity to visit some of the finest Mayan archeological sites in the country. The tour begins with with a visit to Tikal and Yaxha followed with journey up the Pasion river to visit Aquateca. In the second leg of the tour we will travel back by road visiting Quirigua with its specatular stelae and carved altars dating from the post-classic period. We will visit Lake Atitlan where we will meet the ecologists working to save this complex lake basin, where indigionous groups, tourism and wildlife meet. Our journey ends in Antiqua where we will visit Finca El Pilar, a private nature reserve with great walks, a chance to unwind and enjoy the restauraunts, coffee houses and artisan crafts of Antiqua.
A unique tour where we will experience Guatemalan life using a mix of public and private transport. The adventure begins with a visit to Tikal before sailing down the Atlantic coast to trek through two nature reserves by the shores on Rio Dulce. We will spend time with local people experiencing the way they live as well as having time for open-water swimming, caving, kayaking or trekking within the mangrove forest. In the second leg of the tour we will spend time with the local people of Lake Atitlan, who will share their traditional skills of fishing, cooking, handcrafts, traditional medicines, weaving and more.
